Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 8, 2026
Hardwood ("the app", "we", "us") is a daily NBA puzzle game. We built it to be privacy-friendly: there are no accounts, and we do not ask for your name, email, or any personal profile to play. This policy explains what limited data is involved and who processes it.
Information stored on your device
Your game progress, results, streaks, statistics, and settings (such as notification preferences) are stored locally on your device. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to us. Clearing the app's data or deleting the app removes it.
Information sent to our servers
To deliver the daily puzzles, the app contacts our game server. These requests carry only the information needed to play, such as the puzzle date, game mode, and the players you guess. When you vote in the daily "Who's Better?" poll, we record an anonymous tally of votes, and we keep an anonymous daily count of how many people start each game. We do not attach this activity to your identity, and we do not collect names, emails, or precise location.
Advertising
The free version of Hardwood shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google may collect and use device information and identifiers (including, with your permission, the device advertising identifier) as described in its policies. On iOS, we ask for your permission before any tracking via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized.
- Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
- You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings, or remove ads entirely by purchasing Hardwood Pro.
Purchases
In-app purchases (including Hardwood Pro) are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage entitlements and validate purchases. These services receive purchase and transaction information and an anonymous app-generated identifier so we can recognize that your purchase is active. We never receive your full payment details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy.
Notifications
If you opt in, the app schedules local reminders (for example, that new puzzles are available). These are generated on your device and can be turned off any time in the app's settings or in iOS Settings.
Children's privacy
Hardwood is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data retention
On-device data persists until you clear it or delete the app. Anonymous vote tallies are retained to display poll results. Advertising and purchase data are retained by Google, Apple, and RevenueCat according to their own policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
